Poor Ian. Yep - Cort's probably right here..there's not really a right thing to say. Sometimes it's enough to listen. And Cort clearly wasn't ready to have Ian enter into anything without knowing what he was getting into!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! x

He's got a point, there never is a right thing to say in these cases

Cort's story doesn't stop getting more & more tragic. now his mum didn't just get a nervous breakdown because Cort had messed up big time.. she suffers from this awful and long lasting mental illness (i had a friend with the same diagnose who luckily could live "normally" outside a facility with her mum). dad dead, mum in clinic. on top of everything else. who wouldn't have issues, srsly. Ian, you're srsly challenged as weird/grim family stories go, Cort is winning points.

Cort has shown himself wise a few times now. Trauma tends to age or kill you.

@IronDog: Ain't that the truth! When you come from a family of crazy, you either go crazy with them or you learn to barrier yourself against it.

The only right thing to say
"I'm sorry you've gone through and had to deal with that."

Perhaps followed up by, "Can I give you a hug?"

@portisHeart: Aye, Ian needed to know what he was entering into here...and it's a lot.

@IronDog: Yeah..he's so immature in some ways, but mature in others. Life has hardened him.
