Everyone wears a mask. What we see of people on the surface is so rarely what’s ticking underneath. And, in Cortland Hunt’s case, what he’s hiding might just be more than Ian Tanner is prepared for.
Breaks is the story of two young adults coming to terms with who they were, who they are and who they’ll become.
It’s a love story…but a little broken.

Answers time for you, you amazing people! Cail seems to have inspired some guesswork - and he'd be pleased about that, of course ;)
And here is the answer. Cortland has spied/felt something on Cail that Ian may very well have no idea about...0_o
Those scars look like they hurt... and made Cort uncomfortable. Seeing how he's pulling down his shirt sleeve, I assume he doesn't really want them out in the open, either. Just a completely weird guess, but is this somehow related to the rope we have been seeing...?
Cort's expression in the first panel, by the way. Man. So beautiful and oh so heartbreaking.
@AngryAngel: The definitely made Cort uncomfortable, and well spotted on Cail then trying to cover them. Whatever Ian sees his Dad as (whatever Cail IS), there may be another side. There always is, eh? And thank you - there's a lot going on in that boy's head in that moment. Some will make a lot of sense on a backread by the time we're all done x
