Everyone wears a mask. What we see of people on the surface is so rarely what’s ticking underneath. And, in Cortland Hunt’s case, what he’s hiding might just be more than Ian Tanner is prepared for.
Breaks is the story of two young adults coming to terms with who they were, who they are and who they’ll become.
It’s a love story…but a little broken.

I noticed in our stats today that we've passed 700 followers on smackjeeves! That's pretty amazing; thank you. ^_^ It's always hard to tell how many of our overall reader numbers come from within smackjeeves and how many are external clicks, but knowing that 700 SJ users liked the comic enough to actually subscribe to it is lovely! *hugs*
We're loving the reactions to Amilah. If anyone can hold back a storm, maybe she can? But, as with everything in this comic, whether she's right in how she does it or not is another question. :) Meanwhile, Cortland is on the defensive already, but Milly has an amazing knack of breaking through that, eh?
Waow...just Waow. I definitively love Amilah, she is so intelligent (and direct, but that's another story and also why I appreciate her).
Way to break the ice and say what you think! ^^
And Cortland looks gorgeous in the 6th panel, I love his expression...he looks so fragile and destabilized (and, Cortland, my dear, just between you and all the readers here: this Tanner you're speaking about acts more like a boyfriend toward you than Amilah. Just saying. Even if you can't remember.
From one of your fan.)
Great page, as always, thank a lot for it! Even if I don't always leave a comment, I'm always reading you :)
@Melody2945: Thank you! ^_^ And yeah, hehe, she can dominate a conversation, but flirting and playing cute with Cortland might only put him off guard for a little...after all, he may not realise it, but he can be accidentally cute and disarming himself :D
@Shy Reader: Hello, shy reader! Yay! Amilah is a very tuned in girl, and we're so glad that's coming across. As for Cortland? Gorgeous indeed. He has no idea ...and how sad that someone like him can stand unnerved against punches and broken bones, but a kind word or a suggestion of a social link, and he's left off-balance. You're so spot on with your analysis. :)
@Joemon8: So blunt. haha. 'what do you have to gain by talking to me?' He has such a warped idea of how things should work. Poor lad seems to have taken 'keep your head down' to mean 'don't ever interact with anyone' :(
