Everyone wears a mask. What we see of people on the surface is so rarely what’s ticking underneath. And, in Cortland Hunt’s case, what he’s hiding might just be more than Ian Tanner is prepared for.
Breaks is the story of two young adults coming to terms with who they were, who they are and who they’ll become.
It’s a love story…but a little broken.

eeee! Where to begin on the amazing comments from the last page? You guys - thank you ^___^ Malin and I felt envigorated after that page went up, thanks to you. x
(btw, I'm trying to comment @ people here, but it doesn't seem to be working. If anyone knows how I can do it, that would be great. I thought @ would do it.)
So - this is the penultimate page of issue three! YES! The week after next sees the start of issue four. So - how will this scene wind up, eh? Ian seems to have lost his temporary bubble of permission XD
@Joemon8: We see what you did there, indeed. *applause*, haha! And hooo boy, honesty has its pros and cons, I suppose. But Ian is slowly drowning in the amount of lies he's currently telling XD
@CatastropheJones: We already said on twitter, I know, but seriously - your comments. Phew! Amazing to read, and gratifying as well - you're making me feel secure that our intentions are coming through, and you're seeing so much that's not being said. hurray! ^_^ x
@Vanilla H: ahaha! We won't blame you at all. I think Ian's sorely needing a good hard slap XD
@annanndstann: Sorry! ^__^
@ann: Thank you SO MUCH! We're so glad you decided to comment. And we defintely agree that more people should be reading, haha! How to drag them in though? Hmmm. Meanwhile, we're over the moon at the people who are. Do keep spreading the word and we hope you enjoy how things play out. We wanted the characters to feel as real as possible, so yay! ^_^
@Shy Reader: Not so shy now and we love you for it! ^_^ Such a great comment and so perfect in its observation. Ian can't stop himself from lying...soon he'll forget which bits of his life are the truth. Both boys are in a tough place, but - at this stage anyways - we do get the sense that Cortland is more honest. Or, at least, he just keeps his life close to his chest...he specialises in secrets rather than lies. Ian? Oh, he's good at both :D
@AngryAngel: He does rather deserve it. What a way to kill the moment. >___< Oh, Ian! Thank you, as always! x
@Evanescent-Penumbra: Thank you so much ^_^ and hehe, yes! Tanner is the dorkest of the dorks, and Cortland is the stubbornist of the stubborns and they both need a good slap XD
Thanks again, everyone we love you. Just one more page of this issue to go! <3
Not a lot, huh? So much anger, so much struggle here.
The way Cort lifts his fingers to his lips! Callback to PAGE 55 SECOND PANEL! Ohgod. When they finally do manage to hold on to one another without falling apart or exploding, it'll be so sweet, so blissfully satisfying.
I love the way when Ian has that moment, touching his own lips, he closes his eyes, as though he could get away from that moment, but when Cort touches his own lips, his eyes get even wider, and instead of looking away, he looks right at Ian, like he can't get enough.
Some might argue it's a simple nic fit, but then the focus would be the pack, or the ritual of lighting it, but aside from the setup of showing the cigarette being pulled out, there's nothing for it. We don't even have the flick of a lighter, or the first inhale -- just the exhale.
That carved-statue silhouette of perfect schoolboy.
I keep going back to stare at Ian's mouth. That exhale is so so SO captivating, and the way they fumble as they try to talk to one another -- heartwrenching.
I really like Court this page,
admitting mjstakes and such,
though I think it's Tan that needs to take the first step as he liked Court first and kissing him on a drug induced coma doesn't count.
All he's doing is dilly-dallying waiting for Court to either lead or extend his hand for him to kiss and start foreplay moving up.
This is just a remark but it just feels that they're suited for each other based on their flaws(one scared of confrontation the other a fanatic for self-sufficiency) instead of their virtues(a guy that truly treasures those dear to him and a guy that tries his hardest to overcome difficulties).
Your updates give me life, lmao!! You guys are doing such a fantastic job and I'm really excited to keep seeing you guys as authors/artists invested in the comic. Sometimes people lose interest and it's always hard realizing a comic you love isn't going to be finished....But back the comic!! I love the way you manage to collaborate and draw the emotions the words suggests. It's really hard to do, I've noticed.
Poop, what a week. But! It's almost Monday, and that excites me :)
These two. I found Ian's comment about his "friend" interesting. I wonder if Cort caught on to that? C'mon, dear, he isn't talking about Mike here. Also, as frustrated and cornered as Cort clearly is (rightfully) feeling, he's not running off. Being in such close quarters with Ian when he's already feeling weak and vulnerable has to show a bit of trust. Progress, maybe? :)
That look on his face when Ian lights his cigarette, though. I mean we know ginger was smoking prior to planting one on sleeping Cort, so... He definitely looks like he remembers, although maybe he isn't quite sure what... or whether he likes it. How do you even approach this, lol? Oh hey, did you make out with me while I was knocked out? NBD. XD
Lol Ian's so badass, smoking in a hospital toilet, that's like actual rule breaking XD
I really hope Cortland doesn't go to have another fight with Spence, regardless of his cheating ways, you can't win a fight against someone who doesn't have morals :/
