I was taller than the boys, so luckily I never really had any offers to dance. I mostly spent the time trying to deal with the ones who did get too drunk and making them not do anything too stupid.

I was always that person whose family FORCED them to go to school dances and be "social", and then ended up finding the one other person I actually knew there and following them around like a weirdo until my mom picked me up . . . Or, failing that when I knew absolutely nobody there (as most of my friends didn't want to go either), I just stood in the corner and stared creepily into space without blinking until everyone was too afraid to speak to me. (Hey, if you are as uncomfortable around people as I am, you do what you have to.)

@kattriella: Awww, you're definitely not alone in that. I was a bit of a wall-hugger at school parties myself, so I guess we can empathise with Cortland in this case. You get the feeling that he's not really a people-person, eh? ^_^
